Conference Summary
The New Economy is upon us, and preparation for it means success
in the global market. The combination of regional cooperation,
excellent design of place and space, and image and marketing
form a valuable investment in livability and economic success.
Partners has begun planning a conference in Charlotte, North
Carolina to demonstrate the value of these ideas. This conference
will highlight and utilize the most relevant aspects of Partners
Creative City Program.
initiatives that have enabled Charlotte, and other communities
to become successes in livability and the New
Economy.
Conference Outline
This high-profile conference to be held in the Spring of 2006
will target:
- Civic leaders
- Community and grassroots leaders
- City planners
- City managers
- Mayors and elected officials from around the country,
and around the world.
This four-day conference filled with workshops, plenary sessions
and keynote addresses will cover the myriad elements involved
in using creativity to develop and strengthen livability,
effective place-making, regional cooperation and image and
marketing. Participants and elected officials from Creative
Cities and other interested individuals will be able to use
the conference as a springboard for their own efforts. Speakers
will be culled from experts around the world, and will provide
a cross-section of knowledge from a variety of sectors.
Throughout the conference, visitors will partake of all that
Charlotte has to offer - from special aspects of the Greater
Charlotte region, local restaurants, shopping and recreation
areas and of course, arts and cultural activities. Participants
will be taken to visit cultural venues throughout the Greater
Charlotte Region. Some of these venues may be used as workshop
sites while others may serve as hosts for dinners or receptions.
The conference will serve as the launch for the final report
on the Creative City program a blueprint for livability
and the economy in the new millennium. This landmark report
as well as high caliber, bipartisan speakers will attract
international media attention. The host city will figure prominently
in conference activities and conference publicity.
