Healthy Communities
At our February Creative Cities conference at the White Oak
Plantation, many communities expressed concern about levels
of health and wellness. This site offers issue areas for health
as well as recommendations and examples on how to initiate health
policy in your community.
Community and Economic Development Toolbox
Newly elected local government officials are often thrown into
heated debates on economic development or land-use policy without
much background knowledge. The Community and Economic Development
Toolbox, a new Web site from Cornell and Penn State universities,
helps to fill in the knowledge gap, providing basic information
and strategies on a variety of community development needs.
For example, the site provides formulas to assess the local
retail market, tips on setting design standards and a guide
to grant writing. The site also provides numerous links to other
sites with information on the subject. For more information,
contact Timothy Cullenen of Cornell's Community and Rural Development
Program at 607-254-5043. |
