Through the generosity of the Howard Gilman Foundation, Partners for Livable Communities recently hosted a forum on the Creative City in the New Economy. Participants ranged from members of our Creative City initiative (representing ten of our 16 cities), Partners' technical assistance providers with expertise in the Creative City arena, public policy researchers, foundation representatives, and an international/higher education representative from Toronto. The goal of the forum was to further Partners' work in establishing a research and public policy agenda for our Creative City project. By the end of the gathering, we hoped to agree upon the key components of our continued research and upcoming publications related to the project.

The Howard Gilman Foundation nurtures and aids in the conservation of cultural and natural environments. They have supported wildlife conservation, medicine and health, AIDS research, and the preservation of artistic and cultural endeavors. As well as financial support, the White Oak Plantation hosts organizations for conferences, seminars and workshops. It is also home to a wildlife conservation and the White Oak Dance Project, which fosters the talents of Mikhail Baryshnikov.

This document serves to set the stage and to distribute the findings of the forum.
