CREATIVE CITY COMMUNITIES: What HAVE they been up to?

MARQUETTE COUNTY

Economic and Community Development Seminars
Community-wide Calendar

Return to Creative Cities Page >>

Marquette County has initiated, with the help of Partners, a series of four economic and community development seminars that will be conducted over the next six months. Each of the seminar leaders was recommended by Robert McNulty and are members of the Partners panel of consultants. This major project was a combined effort of the Lake Superior Community Partnership, Marquette Community Foundation, Economic Club of Marquette County, Northern Michigan University (NMU), the City of Marquette and several other local foundations and non-profits.

The consultants include: Richard Ward, Carol Coletta, Arthur Zeigler and
Leo Penne. Each individual will spend two days in our community; reviewing our current situation, conducting workshops, speaking at the Economic Club, and presenting lectures at NMU.

Marquette County recently received a $25,000 grant from SBC Ameritech to begin implementation of a Community-wide Calendar-one of the initiatives identified as a priority for their Creative City process.

The Calendar will help event planners create event synergies and identify gaps where additional events could be planned.

For the local and the visitor the Calendar can be easily accessed for their viewing pleasure. Event attendance will be increased thus circulating and importing additional dollars in the community.
