CREATIVE CITY TOP FIVE ISSUE AREAS

A message from Partners' Laura Durham:

Last month I sent out a letter to each point of contact in participating cities. In this letter, I described Partners' plans for our Creative City newsletter/web site and asked for your input on the areas we should cover through it. Thanks to the many of you who responded to my request for feedback on your community's interest in amenity topics. Though we hope to cover much, much more, the "top five" issue areas, each linked to an expanded outline, are:

  1. Regionalism
Amenities & Regional Thinking, Heritage & Tourism
  2. Image and Marketing
City Image, Celebration of the City
  3. Leadership and Citizen Engagement
New Civics, Municipal Government, Local Business
  4. The Creative City Concept
Creative Leadership, Economic Activity, Equity, Quality of Life, and Paying for It
  5. Arts and Culture
Cultural Planning, Public Art/Places as Art

As you can see, we decided to begin with coverage on the Creative City concept, as that seems like a good springboard to future issues. If you have not responded yet, here is another opportunity. (Potential topics included: the Creative City Concept, Arts and Culture, Parks and Open Space, Leadership and Citizen Engagement, Image and Marketing, Animation and Celebration, Public/Private Partnerships, Design, Regionalism, Central Cities, Financing, and any other areas of interest). You can email me your feedback at ldurham@livable.com.
