The Founders Award for Civic Leadership
The Founders Award for Civic Leadership acknowledges an individual of national stature for his or her contributions to the stewardship of our nation's communities. The men and women who receive this award are recognized as individuals whose lives reflect a unique leadership that has a significant impact on the quality of life for people across America.
Past recipients of the prestigious Founders Award for Civic Leadership include William Reilly, former Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, for his work in creating alliances between business and environmental communities during his time as President of the World Wildlife Fund; Benjamin Hooks, for his national leadership on equal opportunity as former director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk and Andres Duany, the founder of New Urbanism, for rethinking the designing and planning of livable communities; and Glenda Hood, former Secretary of State for the State of Florida for enhancing the quality of life and culture across the state.
