In addition to other projects around the city, John Lewis has been busy with one of Fayetteville’s main agendas- to draw on the assets of its higher education institutions and commercial sector to increase the skills of its population and competitiveness as a region. With the help and direction of honors students from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville is building a new museum, The Northwest Arkansas Museum, which will tell the regional story of Northwest Arkansas, and will hopefully excite its children about the future of the city and their investment in it. The rich entrepreneurialism of the Norwest Arkansas region’s three major Fortune 500 companies – WalMart, Tyson Food, and JB Hunt – and the expanding technology fields in Fayetteville such as nanotechnology and research on Radio Frequency ID tags provide a unique mix of resources, history, and potential to explore in the museum.
