LIVABILITY CENTRAL

Livability Central is Partners’ national research and communications center that focuses on issues of community livability. With its wealth of data and publications, Livability Central is a premier resource center to help communities become ideal places for living, working and growing old. Livability Central specializes in collecting and disseminating information on strategies to improve the livability and quality of life in communities. Some of our primary topics for research and information include:

  • Culture Builds Communities – using the arts and cultural resources for social and economic development.
  • Aging in Place – designing and planning communities to meet the needs of senior citizens.
  • New Civics – fostering civic partnerships in communities from the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
  • Economics of Amenity – using civic amenities, such as, local heritage, design, historic sites, natural and scenic resources, for economic development, downtown revitalization and tourism promotion.

Livability Central includes:

  • The Information Clearinghouse: a computerized database that contains hundreds of case studies/best practices on livability issues and community development.
  • Livability Books: books and articles published by Partners on livability issues
  • The Celebrate America Media Brokerage Center: media center to publicize local success stories in improving the livability of their communities.

To become a livable community, local leaders need information, examples and models, training and guidance. Livability Center fills a valuable role by providing best practices, publications, media services and technical assistance on improving the quality of life in communities in the United States and other countries.
